Interim Team Leader - Learning Disabilities (Supported Living)
Salary: GBP22000 - GBP24295 per annum Job Type: Contract
Location: Stratford, LondonThey are currently seeking a Team Leader to support both a Supported Living service consisting of 15 flats and a residential service with 10 residents.
This role is to start ASAP on a fixed term contract basis until at least 6th May, possibly longer.
Duties and responsibilities
Working in a residential environment you will assist with support and care on a one-to-one basis for adults with learning disabilities and mental health conditions.
To ensure a high standard of communication with and between staff and arrange regular staff meetings, keyworker reports and appraisals.
To assist the Registered Manager with the management of more junior staff including the formal supervision of others, leading investigations, providing statements and written reports as required.
Responsibility for overseeing the daily routine of the home, coordinating and deploying staff to ensure all service users day to day care needs and agreed activities are carried out.
To ensure the medical needs of residents are met at all times, administering prescribed medication in accordance with individuals care plans and medication policy.
Ensuring that service user's personal monies balance and that all relevant paperwork is completed accurately and legibly at the end of the shift in order to facilitate the management of individuals finances.
Ensure that petty cash records are accurate, up to date and that monies balance ensuring that appropriate actions are taken if not.
Completion of weekly/monthly Health and Safety checks
To be familiar with the assessed needs of each service user, supervising support workers to provide appropriate care as defined in care plans and risk assessments and provide leadership and guidance to all Support Workers in relation to work issues, supporting them to use and promote effective team working practises.
Support staff with service users who express their frustrations and needs through challenging behaviour by using appropriate strategies and intervention as specified in the person centred plan.
Responsible for the completion and maintenance of clear, accurate and appropriate records and ensuring Support Workers complete records accurately and to acceptable standards.
Contribute to the development and implementation of individuals' support plans in order to encourage the people you support to take an active role in all aspects of daily living and ensure the appropriate level if care and support is identified and promote service users choices, preference and independence.
Observe and monitor service users emotional and physical well-being and to inform relevant staff of any concerns or changes to needs or behaviour.
Undertake and/or assist service users with daily routines and household tasks when necessary such as cooking, mealtimes, laundering and cleaning in order to promote a healthy, safe and comfortable environment for the people you support and to promote independent living.
Undertake and/or assist service users with their personal care tasks when necessary, such as washing, bathing, shaving, dressing and using the toilet in order to maintain a high standard of hygiene. In all these intimate tasks you should ensure that the individual's dignity, privacy and rights are respected.
Respect and promote the rights and entitlements of people with learning disabilities and complex needs. Considering and showing respect for a service user's age, gender, ethnic origin, religious/cultural background and sexual/personal needs ensuring you keep these in mind in all aspects of your work practise.
Assist service users with communication by listening and responding appropriately using preferred communication methods. To encourage and support service users to express their needs, views and concerns.
Ensure that service users are safeguarded from harm and report any concerns

It is desirable to possess a valid transferable DBS check and access to your own vehicle for work purposes.
