Registered Home Manager (Children / EBD)
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 pa Job Type: Permanent
Location: Chingford, London
Our client, a well respected and expanding care provider is seeking an experienced Home Manager to successfully come onboard managing their 6 bedded residential home based in the East London area.
Main duties & responsibilities
To be responsible for a residential service providing quality care for looked after children which meets the National Minimum Standards for Children’s Residential Homes and all associated legislation.
To ensure that all aspects of physical and emotional care of the children are met so as to promote their welfare, whilst working in partnership with their families and other professionals.
To provide experience and expertise in working with children and families and to effectively manage and develop a staff team.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITY AREAS
To manage and engage in work with children and young people, individually and in groups to achieve optimal outcomes.
To manage the effective delivery of the Care Group services.
To effectively and efficiently manage the use of financial resources within the home.
To effectively manage the use of physical and human resources within the home.
To develop productive working relationships with colleagues, other agencies and members of the public.
To contribute to project planning and preparation.
Main duties & responsibilities
Develop and sustain effective working relationships between workers and the local community, colleagues and other agencies so as to promote collaborative working and partnerships.
Contribute to the development of teams and individuals to enhance their performance by ensuring the provision of supervision, support, NVQ assessment, training and appraisal; and to respond to poor performance.
Manage the effective and efficient use of physical and financial resources including the selection, recruitment and retention of staff for which the post holder is responsible.
Effectively manage information that promotes communication between people, the organisation and others, and which assists with making informed decisions.
Ensure compliance with the legal requirements relating to services, standing orders and financial regulations for which you are is responsible.
Contribute to the strategic and business planning of the service, the development of policies, procedures and implementation of quality assurance systems.
Establish, sustain and disengage from relationships with service users and their families.
Contribute to the effective physical, social and emotional environment for group care which provides a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment in which children and their families can be offered the support, care and guidance they need.
Contribute to the promotion of the individuals health and social well being; ensure that the individual is able to maintain a positive sense of self and identity, and that they are supported in maximising their educational opportunities and achievements.
Contribute to the protection of children from abuse; evaluate the risk of abuse, failure to protect and harm to self and other people and to ensure that all matters regarding the care and management of young people are reported in line with departmental policy and procedure.
Promote people’s equality, diversity, rights and responsibilities, and develop, maintain and evaluate systems and structures which promote them.
Contribute to the implementation and evaluation of specific programmes, which provides a framework for the effective management of individuals and group behaviour.
Develop ones own knowledge, practice, resources and style of leadership which ensures open and participatory management and practice.
To co-ordinate and participate in an out of hours on-call service.
Undertake any other duties appropriate to the post as may from time to time be required by the Director of this Care Group.
You must report to their supervisor every accident no matter how minor and also any incident, which could result in injury or damage to plant and equipment and co-operate in the investigation of accidents with the object of preventing a reoccurrence.
Demonstrable experience of working with individual young people or groups of young people including those with a disability
•Experience of contributing to the development, implementation and review of Care Plans for young people to meet their needs and circumstances
•Experience of protecting children from abuse and participating in the evaluation of the risk of abuse to self or others
•Experience of developing and managing teams and/ or individuals to enhance and monitor their performance
•Evidence of managing physical and financial resources
•Evidence of involvement in the development of services, policies or procedures
• Legislation, policy and practice in relation to working with children and families and in particular a sound knowledge of the National Minimum Standards Knowledge of:
•Child development and the needs of children including those with a disability.
•Family dynamics and relationships
•Effective leadership and management styles.
•An ability to promote the positive image of children including those with disabilities as a part of the overall service.
•Rights and responsibilities of individuals and how to develop and maintain structures and systems to support these
•Health and safety legislation, duties and responsibilities
Qualifications or Training:
•Recognised Social Work qualification or equivalent qualification in health, education or social care.
•Registered managers award
