Are you an experienced Registered Manager with experience of managing Children's residential services?
We are recruiting for a Registered Manager for a residential Children’s home based in the Heritage Coast in Suffolk. This organisation have a commitment to helping and preparing young people to grow and develop into adulthood, through building positive relationships and living and learning together within nurturing homes. This service cares for up to 4 young people aged 9-17.
What we are looking for
An experienced manager who has delivered either a Good or Outstanding standard across their previous managed home(s). They will have a track record demonstrating strong leadership and integrity. We will consider a current Deputy Manager with the appropriate experience.
The Role
The Registered Manager is accountable for delivering high-quality care to the children and young people resident within the home. This means that they are responsible for the delivery of all care services, as well as the strategic planning for developments within the home, and all day-to-day management matters.
The Registered Manager is expected to demonstrate practical leadership in childcare, as well as organise and support staff to provide the best possible care for each child and young person. This involves being personally available, as well as the supervision and mentoring of staff, organisation of work patterns, and facilitation of care focussed training and accessing of appropriate services to support the childcare practices within the home.
The Registered Manager is a vitally important role and will be accountable to the Director and Line Manager. They are committed to safer recruitment and safeguarding the children and young people they work with to the highest standard. All appointments will be made using robust recruitment procedures and will involve enhanced DBS and vetting.
Home Management
- To achieve the best outcomes for all children and young people, ensure that the home is managed effectively and efficiently in a warm and caring manner
- Ensure the Seniors and Residential Childcare staff are focused on providing the best childcare for the children and young people
- Ensure full participation and co-operation with their comprehensive and integrated Quality Assurance systems, including taking responsibility for all duties associated with regulatory compliance. This includes the annual inspection process
- Complete regular Reg 45 quality of care reports
- Ensure the home has a development plan informed through the quality assurance processes.
- Ensure that Reg 44 visits happen monthly and that the recommendations are actioned within the timescales set
- Make sure that best practice is maintained by conducting regular quality assurance
- Sustain and develop the administration systems, recording systems, and repair work, so that a warm and caring home environment is maintained
- Ensure appropriate matching of children and young people to home and current group
Team Management
- Supervise and support the staff group ensuring that the team are developed appropriately to meet the specific needs of children and young people in the home
- With the Assistant Manager and/or Seniors, ensure that staff supervision continues to support both childcare delivery and staff development
- Develop individual staff training programs in line with company plans and needs and supervise/provide observations for staff through their CYP Level 3 Award in Children and Young People
- Complete probationary and annual performance appraisals for all staff to ensure that they are able to continue to provide appropriate levels of childcare
- Ensure there is a full cohort of staff at all times that are suitably qualified and experienced to undertake the role
- To implement the Health & Safety policies and ensure that all staff are aware of all Health & Safety procedures
- To undertake risk assessments as appropriate
- Undertake any other duties that may be required
Qualifications
Essential
- Level 5 Diploma in care management or willingness to complete

- Diploma/degree in therapeutic work
- Social work qualification
